Omid 16B – Double You

“Double You” by Omid 16B is the first single from the master producer for a year and comes as part of a planned series of releases and parties during the summer of 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his highly respected Alola record label. Omid’s intentions are pure and simple – raising consciousness and making people aware of the musicality that can be part of any house record and still make an impact to people across genre divides, without any cheese or generic formulas. “Double You” is a gloriously creative piece of house music, constantly evolving and growing over 12 timeless minutes in its original form, with two further mixes that travel down a more experimental and more compact edited route. This is timeless and enticing house music at its most creative. “Another 20 Days” rounds off the release in a hazy deep house fashion. With lush melodies, analogue beats and a laid back aesthetic, “Another 20 Days” is prime ammunition for the summer terraces and sun soaked parties. Omid is an artist who isn’t just a DJ/producer, but also a songwriter and musician who has played a range of musical instruments from an early age and has spent most of his life involved in music. When you’ve been immersed in music as a life force for so long, the whole ethos of making music tends to get deeper. Head of the Alola, Disclosure and SexOnWax labels, he is seen as a key tastemaker across the electronic music scene. As a respected artist of high calibre, Omid has released several albums to critical acclaim and released an astonishing number of amazing singles and remixes over the years. He has created a distinctive style and unique expression that constantly inspires, and is nothing short of a true showman. Omid is currently putting the finishing touches to a new 16B album that will emerge later this year. 16B – Escape (Driving to Heaven)

Next up on the Alola classic series, 16B’s ‘Escape (Driving To Heaven) is re-invigorated with 3 remasters for inclusion in the recently launched Alola Classic series. Originally released in 2001 on Hooj Choons, Escape garnered support from the electronic music elite and featured as the opening track on Deep Dish”’s chart topping ‘Global Underground 021: Moscow’ compilation, whilst also being included on Hernan Cattaneo’s seminal Renaissance mix. As the name title suggest, ‘Escape’ captures an uplifting spirit that climbs and climbs, the perfect embodiment of early naughties progressive house. On vocals, Richard Morel narrates the journey and further adds to the uplifiting aesthetic. On remix duties Omid and Francisco Savier provide deep, dark tribal takes on the original whilst Ignas retains more of the original’s euphoric nature. Rounding off the package Maher Daniel’s previously unreleased mix captures a dreamy, chill-out vibe in blissful fashion. RELEASE DATE: 2013-03-18 LABEL: Alola Records CATALOG #: ALDC004...

Omid 16B – The Game – Remix Contest

Originally released in 2002, Omid 16B’s “The Game” was a formidable tune during the heyday of tribal house, becoming a go-to song for some of the era’s biggest DJs like John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia. Re-released on Alola Records earlier this month, the tribal-infused progressive classic is now being offered up as a remixable tune to Beatport Play users, with an FXpansion prize pack set to go to the winning rework uploaded by March 4. Changing Shape – Always (So Good)/Call Me

Changing Shape is one of Omid’s aliases that goes back to 98 when Airtight Records was set up by himself and Red Jerry from Hooj. Omid released 3 EPs on vinyl including the critically-acclaimed METAMORPHOSIS EP back in 1998, now remastered, and will be releasing 2 EPs with an LP in 2013. “So Good” is a deep yet uplifting affair with funky disco elements that drive the track and make it versatile enough to drop at any given time. “Call me” is deep house with a flavour to touch peak time and early hours, yet also a head turner with its melodies and constant filter drops and re build. More new material will be added to the Changing Shape LP due out mid...

Amine Edge – Yeah (Omid 16B Edit)

Alola is proud to welcome Amine Edge to the family. With two upcoming singles on the label before his ‘Sounds like Alola compilation’ in 2013, alongside Mr C and Omid 16B who are up next , it’s fair to say the Alola camp are quite taken with Amine’s sound. First getting in touch with the label in 2009, label boss Omid 16B describes his direct and enthusiastic approach as “all about the music” adding “he kept sending me stuff which kept getting better and better. His music was very much on my tip, bridging the gap between the older methods and the new whilst getting his message out there.” ‘Yeah’ is a funked-up deep track with a distinct smokey edge to it, perfect for both setting the vibe early in the night or one that will slot into any rolling journey. Making use of spliced up vocals and combining them with a sonic fusion of string instruments and jazz infused melodies, Amine brings it all together with his skilled production. Omid’s edit provides a driven DJ tool, ready to be dropped at just the right moment …in and out ! Buy now at:...
