Continuing the flow of quality releases in 2015, Omid 16B follows up his recent “Nu1” release on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat label, by returning to his own beloved Alola to release two more sparkling gems. These releases are leading towards his eagerly awaited new artist album, coming later this year, almost 8 years on from his previous critically acclaimed long-player “Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye”. Here, “Hypercolour” is built from layers of protracted synths alongside an elevating assortment of minor melodies, all held together by a distinctive, commanding bassline. Meanwhile, a selection of tingling high frequencies and a super-solid groove convey a funkier sound for “Secrets No More”. Omid 16B is an artist who isn’t just a DJ/producer, but also a songwriter and musician, who has played a range of musical instruments from an early age and has spent most of his life involved in music. When you’ve been immersed in music as a life force for so long, the whole ethos of making music tends to get deeper, and this shines through these two stunning new tracks. As the head of the Alola, Disclosure and SexOnWax labels, Omid is seen as a key tastemaker across the electronic music scene. As a respected artist of high calibre, Omid has, over the years, released several albums to critical acclaim and released an epic number of amazing singles and remixes. He has created a distinctive style and unique expression that constantly inspires, and is nothing short of a true showman. He is currently putting the finishing touches to his new double album project that will emerge later this year. Buy: https://pro.beatport.com/release/hypercolour-secrets-no-more/1490977...

Omid 16B is one of those names that seems to have been on the cutting edge of cool house and techno for as long as you can remember, and thats because he is a consistent provider of the finest music and is loved by the Worlds biggest DJs, Omid 16B is the epitome of coolness. His debut on Sudbeat sees Omid 16B introduce the cross numeric title “Nu1 taking you on an underground voyage, with railroad like horns sweeping across the intro before the hypnotic bassline creeps in, adding drive and energy, complimented by clever fx and delays to create tension and atmosphere. This sublime yet subtle gem seems to pack above its weight, as its mysteriousness locks you in to its mystifying vibe, before its tale explodes into layers of what one would describe as a ‘melodic masterpiece’ whilst still being restrained and most certainly raising a smile on the dance floor. Darin Epsilon is a perfect choice for remix duties here, with his rich vein running in respect to the original, adding warm and carefully programmed sounds to add a variation but holding the vibe beautifully here, as warm subby bass meets the gorgeous melodies to create an end of night moment to leave your dance floor beaming with delight. And if that wasnt enough for you, Kevin Di Serna who has previously appeared on Omid 16Bs Alola and the mighty Sudbeat was chosen by Omid & Hernan personally as the the obvious choice to fulfil this package. His tasty rework cuts things rights back, chills the vibe, and creates a fantastic escape for the mind and feet. A superbly musically balanced package, impossible to over look this gem! Buy:...

Opening with label boss Omid 16B & Roland Klinkenberg’s remix of Marc Prause’s ‘Casablanca’ creating a brooding, shadowy soundscape with judicious use of evocative reverbs and striking percussive elements, Prause then joins forces with Kazim Aprendiz for ‘Waterfall’, keeping the production sharp and clear, with the pair exploring more leftfield aural territory. Prause’s original take on ‘Casablanca’ rounds out the release, with a thoughtful, introspective tone, and blending a synth motif with subtle chants into broad musical strokes.
