News: 16B to release his new album titled “Silenciety” in July 2019

It’s been over 20 years since Omid Nourizadeh, aka 16B, first exploded on to the electronic music scene with his acclaimed debut album ’Sounds From Another Room’ on Sven Vath’s eye Q /Alola Records. Since then, he has carved out an illustrious career remaining constantly at the forefront of cutting edge dance music, achieving a stellar portfolio of releases including ‘How To Live 100 Years’ (2002) and the two-part ‘Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye’ (2007) albums. For summer 2019, Omid reveals his highly anticipated 4th artist album, ‘Silenciety’, ablaze with thirteen powerful and musically diverse compositions, which Omid describes as “emotionally venerable and musically dramatic”. From cinematic heart-wrenching classical tones, sensitive and drama-filled electronica, to intense outbursts of rousing electro, indie and techno, ‘Silenciety’ is a magical trip that flows between genres and emotions, testament to the unrivalled creativity and depth of this ever forward-thinking artist.

‘Silenciety’ demonstrates a world of tension and harmony, pairing opposites that slowly melt away to leave a more complete, less unilateral experience; both positive and the negative side by side complementing one another. “There’s not one track that sounds similar to another, yet they’re all connected and nothing feels out of place. I felt there was no point making a fashionable album, as I’m more interested in a timeless body of work, something that doesn’t sound like anything else, something you rarely get to hear”.- 16B

‘Silenciety’ Album will be released on July 1st 2019 on aLOLa Records. The album will also be released as a 2 pack vinyl edition.

Various Artists – Inequality Ep

Spoken vocals and questioning chords open this EP next on Omid 16B’s Alola Records. JUjuLoo’s ‘Prostitute’ evokes late-night debauchery, while Alex George keeps the tension high with his acid-squelching ‘Feel It’. Next up, 16B’s take on Subversive Attraction’s ‘Jack’s Plan’ delivers more hazy action and hypnotic beats. Omid’s ‘Class Of 88’ is also included in this release.

16B – B4LP (Part 3)

16B – B4LP (Part 3)

Renowned London artist 16B prepares the final instalment of his three part ‘B4LP’ series ahead of this year’s album, featuring four varying cuts demonstrative of his diverse production abilities. Omid Nourizadeh is a bonafide house and techno legend with a genre-pushing career that includes remixing the likes of Lana del Rey, The Cure, Todd Terry and Gus Gus, releasing on seminal labels like Bedrock, Tsuba and Yoshitoshi, not to mention curating mix comps such as Balance 13 (SOS), Sounds Like Alola and Ministry of Sound (Club series – SOS). Whether as a producer or as a DJ, Omid has purveyed a wide ranging scope of dance music since day one and he has continued to do so with his ‘B4LP’ series, with the first two releases reflecting his wealthy experience as a producer of various different forms of house and techno. However, in his next outing the Alola founder goes even further, assembling four genre-spanning tracks pre-empting the broad aesthetic of his forthcoming album. Written at the time of his daughter’s birth, ‘Love’ is a tantalising beatless piece that’s charged with emotion and marks a pivotal moment in Nourizadeh’s life. ‘Remember 89’ then moves into club territories, with an array of organic percussion and crystalline melodies, it’s a record made for dancing that draws on the nostalgia of the early days of raving. Moody from the off, ‘Fight’ is a high-tempo electro roller with aggressive drums and fuzzy synths, making way for ‘I See You’ an otherworldly ambient production which Omid recorded live in one take whilst playing with modular set ups during a recent stay in Tokyo. 16B ‘B4LP EP (Part 3)’ drops on Alola Records on 28th May 2018.

16B – B4LP (PART 2)

Alola Records label boss Omid 16B’s second preview EP of his much-awaited forthcoming artist album raises expectations even higher. ‘You & Me’ makes use of deft synthwork over the solid bass lines we have come to expect from Omid, while ‘Strip’ is an almost meditative drum machine work-out, full of luscious 80s beats. ‘Basically’ is somewhat of a departure for Omid, as he explores a contemplative arpeggiated melodic soundscape, discarding percussion and bass as superfluous.

COMING SOON: 16B ‘B1toC3’

COMING SOON: 16B ‘B1toC3’

16B’s trilogy album which began back in 2010 has been in the making for 7 years, the title “B1toC3” is short
for ‘BeOneToSeeThree’.

“After 3 years of touring with Sos in 2010 I began writing again, bringing my old and new machines into sync and designing a new setup where as much creativity was possible in a live situation.

I started making long 10 hour transitions of just melodies, then just the drums and then just fx, separating each element I normally write together but focusing on each dimension being so strong that you could listen to it on its own. I wanted each element to feel like it could work with anything that was in that particular key.

Making ‘B1toC3’ has brought back my true self again, relaxed, experimental, unpredictable, melodic & dramatic.

Robert Smith (The Cure) & Sasha (Dj) who sent me their own personal messages and gave their seal of approval and now im ready to share this with the world.” OMID 16B 2017

A beast of an album… Omid takes us on a journey through his myriad of experiences past present and future. A true trilogy of work, Omid continues to break rules innovate and cover a broad base of textures and genres. Reflecting a day in the life of many-a-clubber rolling through dramatic drops though to luscious moments of beauty Omid’s ‘B1toC3’ is a journey every discerning electronic music fan must witness to believe.

16B – B4LP (PART 1)

Renowned London-based producer 16B readies the first in a series of three EPs entitled ‘B4LP’ ahead of his album scheduled for release next year. Real name Omid Nourizadeh, 16B has been a pioneering name within the UK’s house and techno scene since the early 90s. Highly respected for helming the labels Alola Records, Disclosure and SexOnWax Recordings, Nourizadeh’s own discography spans Bedrock, Tsuba and Yoshitoshi, not to mention curating multiple mix compilations. Having released numerous albums over the years, 16B is no stranger to the long player format however next year sees him release his biggest body of work that traverses house, techno, ambient and electronica. In the lead up he’s set to drop three samplers with the first release showcasing the more organic and musically diverse side of his production abilities. ‘Phone Call’ is a freshly produced track complete with thudding kicks, intricate melodies and a groove-led bassline. In contrast, ‘The Morning After’ is a track made in 20 minutes whilst jamming live featuring murky atmospherics and raw stabs whilst metallic elements operate throughout. Tying things together, ‘Believe It Or Not’ is a track Omid recently rediscovered having recorded it over 15 years ago. Remastered from DAT, it exhibits a wonky aesthetic as layers of synths contribute to a heightening suspense.
